Tyler is another year older (and wiser)

My husband just celebrated his 29th birthday! Sadly we are no longer the same age (we are the same age for about 2 months), but now I can learn from his wisdom :) January will mark our 12th year together! I was lucky enough to marry my best friend. I love him because...
-he makes me laugh every single day and he appreciates my humor too!
-he loves Jesus
-he loves our son and is an amazing father
-he is patient (much more than I am!)
-he is calm, relaxed, laid back (maxin' and relaxin', just chillin', takin' things as they come)
-he is loyal
-he prioritizes family and appreciates his upbringing
-he is a great role model to the boys he coaches
...and there are a million more reasons I could list but I don't really do the mushy stuff well and have reached my quota ;) I love you babe! Happy Birthday Hubby!

Owen is 11 months old!

Owen is now 11 months old which blows my mind! Where has the time gone?? Everyone tells you how fast time flies with children but I don't think you truly understand until you have your own! Owen is such a blessing and brings a smile to our faces everyday! God is good!

First (Professional) Haircut

Yep, that's right, I broke down and decided to pay for a haircut for my 10 month old. His hair grows so fast and I had done as much as I could! Owen did pretty well. He was very interested in what the stylist who was cutting his hair was doing. Luckily, the two receptionists at the salon weren't busy while we were there and did an excellent job of distracting Owen and taking pictures! They were angels! Here are some pictures...they go in order from the start of the haircut to the end so you can see the progression.

Zombie Walker

Owen has started walking! He is actually getting pretty good...he's a quick learner! However, he sometimes looks like a zombie with his arms out or up for balance which can be entertaining. Here is a video of Owen walking....enjoy!

4 Little Teeth...the Better to Bite You With!

Owen has been popping out teeth like it is his job! He got his 2 bottom teeth right around 6 months, but he has gotten 2 new top teeth in the last 2 weeks and he is working on the other 2 top teeth. I would have guessed those last 2 would have come through by now but they are being stubborn!! We took a few pictures so you can see his current teeth (tooth?) situation. He is a little lopsided!

Fun Surprise

On Wednesday we heard a soft knock on the door about 9:30 pm. Boy were we surprised when we answered it and saw Tyler's brother, Travis, and his wife, Chelsie, at the door all the way from Texas! We had no idea they were even in the state, let alone at our front door! Unfortunately, they made the drive up because Chelsie's grandmother passed away. Although the circumstances weren't ideal it was great to see them!

23 Weeks

Poor baby girl...she's suffering from second child syndrome in vitro. She hasn't had a picture taken of her since 16 weeks! Oops!

Here Owen has Buddy's ball and Buddy is trying to take it away! Owen loves it! (Normally Buddy doesn't get that close to Owen because he's had his hair pulled too many times.)

We got our family pictures taken while my brother, Cole, was back from Texas for the weekend. They turned out really well!

 

 

Girls' Weekend!

Myself and five of my close friends went to Minneapolis for a girls' weekend at the end of September. It was a great time! We hardly talked (haha!), the weather was perfect, and, despite the great time, we were all excited to get back to our families by the end of the weekend. We left early Friday morning and drove straight to an outlet mall located about 45 minutes northwest of Minneapolis. We spent more time than we had anticipated there but we got great deals and had a fabulous time shopping! We ended up eating supper near the outlet mall before heading back to the hotel. (I should mention that three of the six of us were pregnant so meal planning was important! Hungry pregnant ladies aren't very pleasant and I'm mostly referring to myself!) Saturday morning included great conversation over the free breakfast at the hotel before heading to a park in a suburb of Minneapolis. We (mostly Allison) had done some research and found some rentals at a local park that we knew would be fun and we would be guaranteed to leave with a story! We rented a four-person bicycle-type thing called a surrey and a two-person low-riding contraption called a deuce coupe. (See pictures below for visuals!) They were a lot more fun than I had anticipated but they required much more of a workout than I had planned for also! Fun, funny time for sure! We got pedicures after a delicious lunch at a cute bistro, and then headed to a fancy (for us) restaurant where we had reservations. The food was delicious and the company was comfortable. I'm pretty sure we could have spent all night at the restaurant talking! We woke up early Sunday morning to get packed up before we headed to church. The church service was thought provoking and challenging! It was a great weekend! But with as much fun as we had, we were all excited to get home Sunday afternoon! (I think our husbands were thankful to have us back too! Thanks boys for the weekend away!)
