We are gonna be parents!

Mommy at 38 weeks

Daddy at 38 weeks

38 Weeks

Sorry I haven't been very good about posting new pictures of the belly! I am now 38 weeks. The doctor checked me at my last appointment and I am 1 cm dialated, but she didn't think I would go into labor this week. She thinks my due date will be fairly accurate. I thought we could take a look back to see how the belly has grown!

More Maternity Pictures

Here are a few more maternity pictures. We swapped our photography skills with our friends, Jared and Allison, and we took family pictures of them and they took these awesome pictures of us! Thanks guys!

Not So Funny

So I said he was ornery and his cute little kicks tickled me but...his kicks are not so funny anymore! He is getting bigger and his kicks are getting more aggressive. He is starting to hurt me! Come on kid...be nice to your mom! :)

Tickle Me Mommy

Baby Fred is fairly active and he has been more active at night (while I'm sleeping!) lately. This has made for an interesting and unanticipated problem...when he kicks on the same side I am laying on...it tickles!! It's a very weird feeling because it tickles from the inside. I have a strange feeling Baby Fred could be ornery like his dad...can't wait to find out!

Some Maternity Pictures

Tyler and I took advantage of my step sister, Jordan's, photography talent and had her take some maternity pictures I saw on Pinterest while we were together at Thanksgiving! Tyler was a good sport eventhough I know he would have rather have been watching the football game! Here are a few shots :)

Baby Fred's Room

Well, the nursery is pretty much done so we are completely ready for his arrival (yeah right!!) I've posted some pictures so you can see the progress!

We are still undecided if Buddy and Baby Fred will share a room or not! They are for now!

We got the curtains made and they add the finishing touch (and color!) to the nursery!

Tyler painted the changing table and the airplane; both of which I got at garage sales for $5 a piece! Score!

This shot shows the fan we added to the room too!

33 Weeks

I am at 33 weeks. (What?! I know!!) Luckily, I don't feel as big as I look! Tyler and I are getting used to the diabetic diet (it is not as bad as we were anticipating!) I feel great despite the diabetes and am getting more excited for the little guy to get here! I feel more prepared (as far as stuff goes) because we got so many great gifts at the shower, but I'm not sure we will ever be physically and mentally prepared for the baby to be here! We will learn and adjust as we go! Please pray for flexibility once the little cutie is here. Pray that I wouldn't be so determined to do things one way that I'm not open to going with the flow ("the flow" that is probably God's will for me anyway!) Thanks so much for continued prayer for the baby's health and mommy's health!

Baby Shower

We had the baby shower last weekend and it was the best baby shower I've ever been to! (I may be a little biased!) My amazing friends and Lindas put on a great shower for me and baby Fred. He was even there because they framed one of his ultrasound pictures and had them on the tables...so sweet! The theme was "Tiny Pumpkin" and the colors were orange and blue (which happen to be my two favorite colors!) The food was amazing and very thoughtful because I know they took into account my restricted diabetic diet. It was super delicious and fall-y...squash soup, chicken salad, salad with apples and (my favorite) Panera dressing, mini carmel apples and tiny, diabetic-friendly desserts! We even played a game. It involved memory and my pregnant brain didn't fare so well, but it was still fun! Who know not winning could be fun?! There was a great turnout and I am so thankful for all the people who were able to make it to the shower! It meant so much to have them all there! Thanks to the amazing women who helped organize, create, prepare food, decorate and all-around help with the shower...it was awesome!! Thanks to everyone for the gifts and the time spent celebrating our "Tiny Pumpkin"!

Happy Birthday Papa!

Tyler's Papa celebrated his birthday last Saturday and most of the extended family was able to be there with him (some even from out of state!) It was great to get together to celebrate the soon-to-be super papa! Happy Birthday...we love you!

Diagnosis

Hello all! Sorry it's been so long! Well I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and have a restricted diet. I was certainly not happy about the diagnosis or the diet but it has been pointed out that it will all be worth it when my healthy baby boy is in my arms! I actually have to watch my carbs because carbs break down into sugars and I have to prick myself and test my blood sugar 4 times a day. Tyler has been really sweet and has agreed to do the diet with me. We are still getting used to it and determining which recipes will work on our new diet and which ones will have to wait till after the baby arrives! The diet seems to be working and I would appreciate your prayers that the diet alone will keep my blood sugar in check so I won't have to give myself insulin shots. So far so good and I know it will continue to go well because God already knows what is in store for us! Thanks for your continued prayers for a healthy mom and healthy baby!

Poor Puppy

We find it funny to make our dog do things he doesn't want to do. Can you see the fear in his eyes in the airplane pic? Poor puppy...he doesn't even know his parents are weird cuz it's his normal!

30 Weeks

Holy cow! I can't believe it but I'm 30 weeks along! Everything is going well. He is still very active in there. It is fun to feel him kick (except when he kicks my bladder :)) Tyler has felt and seen him kick several times. Our friends Jordan and Lizz were at our house last weekend and also got to feel him kick some when he got excited! I am so blessed because my pregnancy has been fairly easy and I thank God each day for that! The nursery is coming along slowly but surely so hopefully we will have some pictures soon!

Pumpkin Carving

Ty saw a pumpkin that inspired him to carve a cool pumpkin of his own. Here are some pictures of the master at work.

My Nightmare

Yesterday I was sweeping our three seasons porch. I just had opened our glass door (leading outside) so I could sweep the pesky leaves outside where they belong, when I heard a loud thud and turned around to see a bird on the floor (within feet of me!!) The bird had flown into the opened glass door and stunned/hurt itself. (For those of you who don't know...I have a strange/embarrassing fear of birds...I think it is the flapping motion!) So, of course, I ran inside screaming and instantly called Tyler. He assured me I would be fine and I just needed to push it the 6 inches outside with a broom. Okay...I can do this! I armed myself with a broom and a tied hooded sweatshirt (to protect my hair from being attacked which was inevitably what was going to happen the instant I touched the thing!) After a long stare down, I lost my nerve and called Ty again. I started freaking out and tearing up slightly so Tyler told me to leave the bird and he would deal with it when he got home. God answered my prayers because when I got home from running some errands, the bird was gone! Yay! My fears were realized that day but I live to tell you about it (only by the grace of God!)

Ultrasound

We had our appointment last Friday and everything was awesome! My placenta is just fine and they decided not to change the due date so we are still on for January 7th! We got to see the little guy again. He is weighing in at 2 pounds and his feet measured 2 inches. He was nestled in there like a little "U" which doesn't seem very comfortable :) I've attached some pictures of Baby Fred (our ultrasound tech was nice enough to include a couple 3D pictures!)

This is the 3D picture...isn't he cute?!

Here's a good pic showing his uncomfortable position

Here's a picture showing his heart and heartbeat

27 Weeks

I am now at 27 weeks and feeling great! I will have another ultrasound on Friday because the last one showed my placenta as being low. Apparently it is a very common thing and usually corrects itself, so please pray that is the case with me also! I am excited to see Baby Fred again (especially if everything ends up being ok!) He was so handsome last time :)

Fred Fall Family Fun

Tyler, Buddy and I bagged some of the many leaves littering our yard. I know we will have to do it again later, but the yard looks much better for now! This dry summer has made for a really easy, less messy fall leaf clean up!

Cutie patootie!
That's me and Baby Fred in the pile of leaves!

Babies R' Overwhelming

Tyler and I just attempted to register at Babies R' Us for the shower and that was completely overwhelming! It ended with both of us rushing through because we were hungry and grumpy! I have a feeling we will have to go back.

VIKES!

Tyler and I headed north this weekend for a little getaway! It was great! We left Saturday and hit Ikea and the Mall of America before checking into our hotel and going out to eat at Granite City. The food was awesome and my salad was literally a heaping mound...I mean laughable! The main reason for the trip was to see the Vikings take on the 49ers on Sunday. I have never seen the Vikings lose in person and the streak continues because the Vikings dominated and beat the 49ers! Upset of the week by far! YAY! Enjoy the pics!

One of the perks of this game is that Josh Duhamel was the honorary Viking!
(You will need to look closely but he is in the white hat!)

25 Weeks

Yes I realize the board says I'm 24 weeks but I was technically 25 weeks when the picture was taken hence the title of the post! Baby Fred is still being pretty active and it's usually towards the end of the day! (He was going nuts at the races...I think it was the noise and the vibrations!) I can still get by with some of my normal pants (and a hair tie!) but I am mostly wearing maternity pants now. They are so much more comfortable! I can still get away with most of my normal shirts, but they definately fit differently! Lol! Everything continues to go well in the pregnancy for both mommy and baby...please pray it continues to go this way! Thanks so much for all your thoughts and prayers! We love you all!

Gentlemen, start your engines!

                                               Victory Lane!

Tyler got some free tickets to the Iowa Speedway Nascar truck series race through Sherwin-Williams. So Tyler, John, Linda and I headed over to Newton on Saturday afternoon. I wasn't sure if I was excited for the race or not! It was not nearly as bad as I was anticipating! It was kinda fun but very loud!

21 Weeks

I can't believe it but we are over the halfway point of the pregnancy! We are at 21 weeks. The most exciting new thing is I can feel the little guy move! He is pretty active too! It makes me feel even more connected to him and it is a reassurance to know he is doing well in there. The nursery is starting to come together. The crib is supposed to be delivered tomorrow so stay tuned for pictures of the progress!

Cruel and Unusual Punishment

Anyone that has had an ultrasound knows you are required to have a full bladder. I took this very literally because I wanted to see the baby. I drank plenty of water and didn't allow myself to pee before the appointment. After we arrived, they forced us (Tyler, Ty's mom, Ty's dad, my dad, my stepmom, and myself) to wait. As we were (patiently) waiting, my bladder continued to get more and more full. I was now afraid if I moved the wrong way I would wet my pants. I asked the receptionist how much longer the wait would be and informed her of just how uncomfortable I was. She told me that I could go to the bathroom if I only peed a little. I promised her I would and walked/ran to the bathroom. Once I sat down and let go...I couldn't stop! Oh no! I definately didn't go just a little! I was going to be so mad if I messed up the ultrasound so once I left the bathroom, I immediately went straight to the drinking fountain and started chugging more water! Tyler and I finally got called back into the ultrasound room where there was more waiting (only now I had my pants off so should I wet myself it is no longer myself but the chair I'm wetting! Oh geez!) Tyler told me to not think about it but I had to! Once we started the ultrasound, I was excited and distracted, but shortly my urges were starting to make themselves known again! I informed the nurse that I was very uncomfortable and she was nice enough to let me go to the bathroom (again!) I have learned my lesson and I now know that I, personally, don't need to drink quite as much water as they recommend! Definately cruel and unusual punishment to force a pregnant woman to drink lots of water and then attempt to hold it!

Sex Party

It's a BOY!

We had an ultrasound Friday and found out that we are having a baby....BOY!! Yay! Who guessed boy? We had a sex (reveal) party with friends and family on Saturday. It was so fun! We made (mostly Tyler...to be honest!) "revealing" cupcakes. The cupcakes were topped with pink or blue frosting. We made the guests make their guess. Then they bit into them simultaneously revealing the blue frosting they were stuffed with announcing baby fred really was a baby Fred! Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate! We had a blast!
Lizz finding out if it is a boy or girl!
Taylor loved her cupcake!
